Gala Apples originated in New Zealand around 1930. It is a well-known type of apple and is a cross between Kidd’s Orange Red and Golden Delicious. Apples usually have a yellow-orange base with red stripes.
Taste: Sweet and crispy.
The first seedling for this type of apple was discovered on a family farm in West Virginia in the early 1900s.
